Drawing 30 in my sketch a day series! I reached my goal!

I had to end on a strong note, so I picked a badass subject and a badass style. Still working with textures and learning all kinds of digital painting techniques but this one is a fav of mine. Can't wait for the new season to come! Oh, and this is my halloween costume btw. Everyones favorite serial killer.

I wanted to test out a new style and mix it up a little with some textures. I think it turned out well. I'm not great at coming up with background ideas, it's always sorta plopped on last minute.. so maybe I could work on that. But, overall I like the style of this one.

Well I only have a couple days left for my sketch a day series.. and I thought I should work on a few other things. The Legend of Korra storyboard has been fun though! I may come back to finish the fight one day.. or maybe mtv studios will find me a job and you'll see it on tv! Who knows. Until then.. will team Korra be bested by this mysterious super bender!? This is the first part of a Legend of Korra storyboard I'm creating. Viacom is looking for storyboard artists for this show as well as some others and I'd love to work on them. So, I'm showing them I am capable of handling the Legend of Korra storyboarding job by making a Legend of Korra storyboard. The story is just something I made up based on what I know about the second season.

I wanted to try something a little different with this one, so it's kind of a sketchy, painty mix. I think it turned out alright, not great but not too bad. Maybe something to work on.

I'm continuing with the Legend of Korra theme one more time, this time with a chi blocker. They're these completely badass muh f@#$ers that are like these industrial ninjas with ball on rope weapon things that they're aces with. So I drew one.

Cie - The Earthbender

Drawing 22 in my sketch a day series!

Introducing Cie, an earthbender! I felt like sticking to the Legend of Korra theme (especially since Viacom is looking for character designers). I wanted to shade it but I just ran out of time. I'm really happy with how it turned out, though. The proportions look good and she has an overall badass kinda feel which I like. I think I'll switch up the style for tomorrow.

Legend of Korra

Drawing 21 in my sketch a day series!

So, I was applying for jobs when I came across several for Nickelodeon. One was for The Legend of Korra, a very cool action show acting as a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. I would love that job. So it couldn't hurt to do a piece for the show. I need to create some more finished looking pieces for my portfolio also.

Drawing 20 in my sketch a day series!

Just finishing up the cadillac storyboard. I think it was good practice and turned out pretty nice. A little more detail than needed but whatever. The story was just something I made up.. it's so so I guess.

Well, I have my computer back up and running and should start pumpin out more finished works again.

I wanted to work on some more storyboards to build something of a portfolio and thought a commercial one would be nice. I spent waaaayy too long on the panels but they look really nice. I'll probably add the last two pages tomorrow.

Female Sketch

Drawing 18 in my sketch a day series!

I just got my computer back this evening (so fast!) and have been transferring hella data as well as upgrading to mountain lion. I also had a blistering migraine ( numbness, Los of vision, vomiting and headache.. It was a blast), so it was a fairly quick sketch.

Just kinda working with the female form some more and sketching some pages of facial expressions. I'm itching to get back to different styles of digital painting though.

Painting Study

Good news! Borrowing my roommates laptop for some stuff.

I want and need to get better at digital painting so I did a fairly quick work. No reference, just messin around. I could've worked longer on it but it was getting late. Needs more variation of color and a few other things but it's a step in the right direction.

I wanted to do some more sketching lately and was coerced by a friend to let my anger out.. and from a fairly recent even primarily.. this popped out.  So I'm callin it a hate monster. I always enjoy a messy sketch though. I might color it for tomorrow or focus on something else, not sure yet.

This is sort of a continuation from the previous days. I'm working on refining my process and technique of storyboarding. I think it's coming along well and I'm pretty happy so far. I'll probably continue this storyboard but with a few other illustrations added here and there.

I felt like doing something kinda simple today. I was a bit under the weather from a rather rambunxious night last night.. ahem.. So I thought a caricature type drawing would be fun and relatively quick. Breaking bad is the latest and greatest thing on TV right now so I chose Walter White. America's favorite meth cook :D
