Aquent Freelance!

Last week I had a meeting with a freelance agency called Aquent, and what a great meeting it was! Aquent basically has clients needing some sort of creative project done and then Aquent finds the right creative person to do it. Well, I am now one of those creative people.

I'll be able to create fancy presentations for clients to pay bills as a consistent form of work and in the meantime, Aquent will look for storyboard and character design jobs for me. Perfect!!

I'm currently making sample slides for them to show clients.

Halo 4 Under Armor Concept Done

Finished the under armor! Cleaned the pic up a bit too, for presentation purposes. Next up, the primary armor.

This was only supposed to be a suit for under the armor but kinda turned into lightweight armor itself. We'll see how this plays out...

At It Again

This is the beginning of an armor concept I'm whipping up. Halo 4 has to be one of the most incredible looking games, stunning design and composition throughout. So, it's inspired me to create a custom armor for the Chief.

Just Had to Make Something

Been kinda down lately, discouraged, etc. Just felt like creating something kinda rustic.

Demo Storyboard Panels

I'm trying to join a staryboarding agency and in the process, they want me to do some demos panels for them. They really like clean lines and realistic drawings. Most storyboards are much more sketchy and unfinished, but they like a somewhat polished look. I worked a little more with the background and grey tones in the apple picker one. Here is what I did for them.

Figure Study Madness!!!

In preparation for storyboarding, I've been honing figure skills using references from Shutterstock.com. It's a great way to work with technique, build accuracy and better yourself in general. Nothing too crazy or action packed here, but it's a necessary step for me. Action packed shots will be coming shortly though :D

Beast

Not much development on this particular drawing. I kinda just wanted to draw the human figure a little. Not much in the way of design or clothing or intent.. but whatever. Messing around with filters some more. I like filters. Filters are nice.

Darkly Dreaming Dexter

Drawing 30 in my sketch a day series! I reached my goal!

I had to end on a strong note, so I picked a badass subject and a badass style. Still working with textures and learning all kinds of digital painting techniques but this one is a fav of mine. Can't wait for the new season to come! Oh, and this is my halloween costume btw. Everyones favorite serial killer.

I wanted to test out a new style and mix it up a little with some textures. I think it turned out well. I'm not great at coming up with background ideas, it's always sorta plopped on last minute.. so maybe I could work on that. But, overall I like the style of this one.

Well I only have a couple days left for my sketch a day series.. and I thought I should work on a few other things. The Legend of Korra storyboard has been fun though! I may come back to finish the fight one day.. or maybe mtv studios will find me a job and you'll see it on tv! Who knows. Until then.. will team Korra be bested by this mysterious super bender!? Is he really that skilled!? Is he friend or foe!? Find out next time!

Legend of Korra Storyboard

This is the first part of a Legend of Korra storyboard I'm creating. Viacom is looking for storyboard artists for this show as well as some others and I'd love to work on them. So, I'm showing them I am capable of handling the Legend of Korra storyboarding job by making a Legend of Korra storyboard. The story is just something I made up based on what I know about the second season.

I wanted to try something a little different with this one, so it's kind of a sketchy, painty mix. I think it turned out alright, not great but not too bad. Maybe something to work on.

Cie - The Earthbender

Drawing 22 in my sketch a day series!

Introducing Cie, an earthbender! I felt like sticking to the Legend of Korra theme (especially since Viacom is looking for character designers). I wanted to shade it but I just ran out of time. I'm really happy with how it turned out, though. The proportions look good and she has an overall badass kinda feel which I like. I think I'll switch up the style for tomorrow.
