Ice Tower

Drawing 9 in my sketch a day series!

I wanted to explore scenery a little bit more and I think I learned a little bit more about it with this piece. I like the simple blocky feel it has and, for a made up scene, I think it has decent lighting. If I do another one, I'll probably do something from reference to study accurate colors more. I think I'm headed in the right direction though.

More to come!

Shinobi!

drawing 8 in my sketch a day series!

I had a fairly busy day today so I had to crank this one out. It's pretty straight forward, very loose, expressive lines with a simple coloring strategy. I like how it turned out but its just a quick, simple sketch. Oh and I haven't drawn a ninja in awhile... so that had to change.

Print Mech

Drawing 7 in my sketch a day series!

I wanted to work on blocking out a figure more as well as work on my mech abilities. I also had a request for a mech made from 90's printers.. so I implemented a few aspects of that in there haha.

I think this is notably better than the last mech but still not where I want to be. I'm gonna work on the design more of the next one I do and try and spend a little more time on it.

Desert Color Study

Sketch number 6 in my sketch a day series!

I wanted to work a little more with environments for a better understanding of color and shape. One thing I really want to work on is blocking in shapes and using lines as little as possible. Line work will always be my strong suit, but I want to make my weaknesses a strength.

Women.

Drawing number 5 in my sketch a day series!

I wanted to try another slightly different style with this one, somewhat inspired by this work:http://www.ciia2d.com/portfolio_gallery1_en.htm

I thought it'd be cool to show the true nature of women.

Super Soldier!

Drawing 4 in my sketch a day series!

This is an exciting one too (which is why I'm uploading it extremely late and with red eyes). I used layers for different articles of clothing to toggle different looks. I approached it as if it were something for a game or show or whatever. Everyone likes options.

I used a pretty basic but still somewhat expressive style with the lines and color. I really like this style and will probably attack many more of my works this way. I'll probably work on this one a bit more because I like it so much, but more to come!

Wolverine Close Up

Drawing 3 in my sketch a day series!

I felt like working a little more with the facial features today. That, and working on a style with some loose lines and a little digital painting. I've noticed that when I work I often start with an idea in my head but change it so much while I'm working. I'll see something or think of something I like and end up taking the piece in a different direction than originally intended.. Which is sometimes a good thing, sometimes bad..

But I like how this one turned out, I think I'll work with stronger lighting next time.

More to come!

Test Mech

Drawing 2 in my sketch a day series!

I don't think I've ever done a mech before and it kinda shows. The figure itself, compositionally, I think is decent, but I need to know the ins and outs of what makes a mech a mech!

I think it's a good start though. More to come!

Starting a Sketch a Day!

In an attempt to hone my skills and better my chances of landing a job I actually want, I'm going to be drawing some sort of sketch (good, bad or otherwise) for the next month or so.

This is the first in the series. Not perfect, but I think it's a good start.
